Vision
Inspired by God's love, our communities will be transformed
through service to people of all faiths and cultures.
Mission
As a Catholic social services agency, we are guided by faith
to care for and bring hope to people in need with humility,
compassion and respect.
Our Identity
As a Catholic social services agency, our organizational
identity is rooted in the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, which
compels us to cherish, preserve and uphold the sanctity and dignity
of all human life; motivates us to foster charity and justice; and
calls us to embody and live out the social and moral teaching of
the Church.
Our agency is called to give credible witness to the great
commandment given by Jesus Christ to love one another. We do
so by engaging in our work with compassion and competence,
respecting the personal freedom and inherent dignity of each person
in our care, and serving people of all faiths or no faith. We
carry out our mission in communion with the Church and with the
approval and support of our Archbishop.
Our Core Values
1. Humility
Genuine humility comes from acknowledging with gratitude our
human abilities and limitations and recognizing our ultimate
dependence upon God. We demonstrate our humility by doing the
best that we can with the resources that we have been given while
entrusting the entirety of our work to God.
2. Compassion
Compassion is the act of responding to the suffering of others
with love. We demonstrate our compassion by caring for people
without judgment and without condition.
3. Respect
Respect for others is grounded in our belief that all people
have been created in the image and likeness of God. We
demonstrate our respect by being personally present, open and
attentive to those we care for and by honouring their dignity and
freedom.
Our Guiding Principles
1. Sanctity and dignity of all human life
We promote and defend the sanctity of life and the inherent
dignity of the human person. We are called to protect, nurture and
advance human life from the moment of conception until the moment
of natural death.
2. Serving the whole person
We affirm a holistic vision of the human person by caring for
the material, physical, mental and spiritual well-being of all
those we serve.
3. Inclusivity
We welcome all who want to work with us, including those who
profess different religious beliefs. As our employees
represent our Agency we expect that all staff will respect and
uphold our mission, values and guiding principles in the work that
we do.
4. Preferential option for the poor
In developing and fulfilling our various ministries, a weighted
concern and priority is given to the needs of the poorest and most
vulnerable in our society.
Our inspiration
We are inspired by the words of Jesus Christ found in the
Gospel of Matthew
(MT 25:35-40):
"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you
gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was ill and
you comforted me, in prison and you came to visit me. Then the just
will ask Him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or
see you thirsty and give you drink? When did we visit you when you
were ill or in prison?' The King will then answer them, 'I assure
you as often as you did it for one of the least of my brothers and
sisters, you did it for Me."
